About ChrisChris was born and bought up a Londoner, and attended a state school here. Despite being told by his teacher at 13 that he would always be in the bottom third of the class in Science, against the odds Chris made it to Oxford and graduated with a degree in Physics. Chris has a long track record of campaigning, locally and nationally. In Camden, Chris serves as a hard-working councillor, combating crime and campaigning to improve the local environment. Within 10 weeks of being elected to Camden Council, he found the money to put new heating into a council block where residents were freezing cold, and had been ignored by Labour for 10 years. Nationally, Chris has been campaigning since 1999 to improve the NHS, and make sure that the extra money being spent actually made a difference on the frontline. He played a pivotal part in making MRSA a national issue a couple of years ago. He has also campaigned to reform the state education system to lift standards for all our children. Chris is a successful local businessman, whose companies have created jobs across north London. He has lived in this neighbourhood for the better part of ten years, and loves running on Hampstead Heath with Bobby, an 8 year old Collie-cross-Alsatian. Chris's Track Record of Local actionSince being elected as a local Councillor in Camden, here are some examples of what Chris has done:
Chris and local residents successfully fight a planning application Why vote for Chris?1) He has a real track record of action in this area
Local residents have written into the CNJ thanking him for his work: "I have no interest in any political party but I do have an interest in my neighbourhood. Chris Philp has been working with residents of my neighbourhood to ensure that Network Rail clean graffiti off their unsightly derelict substation that many flats overlook. He has also spent many hours finding funding for a new heating system where the residents were freezing cold. We've had councillors who are only interested in projects that can get their photo in the press…Cllr Philp works in a less glamorous but more productive way."
